about
Hysterical Starving Naked was written off the back of public unrest as the nation was catapulted into uncertainty for the duration of 2019, thus making October a very, very long month.
Lyrically, an idea is captivated that as a collective we’re aware that the present has gone wrong, but we’re here to create a sense of unity and enjoy it whilst it lasts.
Taking shape in the formation of a sextet, the song naturally exhibits a raw wave of well-layered and harmonised noise, drawing influences from artists such as Parquet Courts, The Stooges and The Fall. An honourable mention is also deserving to the late author Allen Ginsberg, a leading voice of the Beat Generation. Singer Mitchell Gordon purchased a poem of Ginsberg’s (Howl) from a historical bookstore in San Fransisco, City Lights Booksellers & Publishers and joined the protest for cry against all exploitation. The song title is certainly a nod to Mr Ginsberg.
lyrics
Something not so pretty has been let loose in my city,
The chimes of dog eat dog ring around the centre.
An abundance of baby boomers sit down and form a committee...
And I’ve found dozen 50p’s in the dickhead dispenser, you dickheads.
Some clown is taking over my town (my town, my town, my town)
The sound of laughter falls on deaf ears (again and again and again and again)
I’d hand you a bafta, present you a crown. Congrats on bringing me to my wits end, I’m round the bend, it never ends, I’m going round and round again.
Are you hearing me or selectively not?
Are you hearing me or selectively not?
Are you hearing me or selectively not?
Are you hearing me or selectively not?
Are you hearing me or selectively not?
Are you hearing me or selectively not?
Are you hearing me?

Dead Cross, Retox, and Qui members dish out subversive hardcore with an indignant smirk; come for the riffs, stay for the synth experiments. Bandcamp New & Notable Mar 31, 2024
Knockout debut from a Buffalo, New York-based hardcore band who like their riffs sick, their drums fast, and their choruses sticky-sweet. Bandcamp New & Notable Mar 28, 2024
